September 17, 2007 College News for Immediate Release NW-SCC HOSTS CAREER TECH DAYS FOR AREA HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS Muscle Shoals, Ala. - Northwest-Shoals Community College (NW-SCC) will host "Real Skills for the Real World" Career-Tech Day for seniors interested in the Occupational-Technical fields. This event will give seniors an opportunity to experience "hands on" high-level training in a college environment to better prepare them in making future career choices. NW-SCC Career Tech Days will take place September 24th through 28th on the Shoals Campus from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. in the Center for Industrial Training Building (115). All high school seniors will have the opportunity to hear from Business and Industry representatives about available jobs, tour Occupational-Technical classrooms and shops, participate in "hands on" projects in the career of their choice, experience a day of fun learning about choices in Career Technical fields. All participants will receive a free T-shirt and lunch. Participating school personnel will receive Continuing Education Units (CEUs), discover what skills business and industry are seeking and learn more about NW-SCC Occupational-Technical careers including Associate in Applied Science degrees (A.A.S.), Associate in Occupational Technology degrees (A.O.T.), and Career Certificates. Career Technical Choices include: Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Auto Collision Repair Auto Mechanics Cosmetology/Nail Technology Carpentry/Cabinet Making Child Development Design Engineering Technology Electrical Technology Electronics Health Occupations Industrial Maintenance Machine Shop Technology Welding Technology Due to our community's growing need for highly trained individuals in the Occupational-Technical fields, NW-SCC is prepared to offer high-level training using advanced equipment with qualified instructors. NW-SCC instructors partner with Business and Industry for training and advisement to assure students are well trained and ready for employment.
